Every feature is free
Barcode scanning, voice logging, macro targets in grams and logging to a past day are all included. There is no paid tier, no trial and nothing withheld pending payment — including for people who never join the Challenge.
Because it isn’t the thing being sold.
Fuel8 is made by a partner of the 8 Week Transformation Challenge, a separate paid programme, and earns a commission when somebody joins it through the app. That is the entire business model. It pays for the tracker, so the tracker doesn’t have to charge you, show you ads, or sell anything about you.
A free food diary with no obvious way of making money is a fair thing to be suspicious of. Usually the answer is advertising, or a subscription waiting behind the third tap, or your data. Here it isn’t, and the honest answer seemed more reassuring than no answer.

The Challenge gets a single tab that explains what it is. No badge, no notification, no red dot, and nothing that appears on its own at a moment the app chose. It's the only place in the app that mentions any of it.
The Challenge code lives in a separate module that declares no dependency on the app, so a line of code reaching for a meal, a weight or a Health value fails to compile. That's a build guarantee rather than a promise.
Joining the Challenge doesn't unlock anything in Fuel8, because there is nothing locked. The tracker is the same app either way.
Fuel8 is made by a partner of the 8 Week Transformation Challenge and earns a commission on sign-ups made through its links. The Challenge is paid. Its price and start dates live on its own sign-up page rather than in the app or on this site, so they can’t go out of date.
Nothing identifies you to the Challenge. The discount code is the same public offer code everybody has, and there is no referral tracking of any kind — no identifier, nothing from your food log, and nothing that ties a sign-up back to a particular person.
The app says all of this on the Challenge tab itself, in the same words. This page exists so it’s findable before you download anything.
Want the Challenge? It’s 12% off through Fuel8 — applied when you arrive, nothing to type. Signing up inside the 8WTC app instead, the code is Fuel8.

No advertising sold to anyone else, no ad networks, no ad identifiers. No analytics, telemetry or attribution SDKs — there is no third-party code in the app at all. Nothing about you is sold, rented or shared, because there is nothing held to sell: your food log, your weight and your targets never leave your phone.
The privacy policy names the only two connections the app makes and exactly what each one carries.
